UNOFFICIALLY - HOW DID WE DO IT?  (SIMPLE ANSWER - REPUBLICANS IN WESTON CARED ABOUT OUR CANDIDATES AND APPRECIATED THE EXCELLENT TICKET!!!)

THANKS DAN FOR YOUR LEADERSHIP THESE PAST TWO YEARS AS SELECTMAN.

YOU PAVED THE WAY FOR REPUBLICAN RESURGANCE ON ALL OTHER MAJOR BOARDS WHERE WE NEEDED TO
REGAIN MAJORITES, AND HELPED US KEEP A FIRM GRIP ON THE OTHERS, WHERE WE ALREADY HELD MAJORITIES!!!

Bravo to our Board of Ed candidates for outpolling their rivals...by a lot!!!

FIRST - You select great candidates;  this made winning mid-campaign debates possible;
SECOND - You make sure not to miss making your policy points early and often;
THIRD - Be ready for anything and respect the intelligence of the opposition!

AS A RESULT...last week of power outage - Election Day November 8, 2011 - no problem!

WE DIDN'T WIN ALL OF THE CONTESTS NOVEMBER 8, 2011...BUT ALMOST!!!

Newly reelected Town Clerk Donna Anastasia with Secretary of the State Denise Merrill.

ELECTION RESULTS 2011:  The voters spoke.

...AND HOW ABOUT OUR BOARD OF EDUCATION CANDIDATES' SHOWING?  AWESOME!  WOW!!!

...AN AMAZING VICTORY IN A ROUGH CAMPAIGN FOR BOARD OF FINANCE
Strong support for the Republican team, which was found to be superior even by those who did not support all of our candidates

KNOWS HIS STUFF!!!  Jess looks up to the challenge of dealing with the business of policing in Weston...
Seated next to Democratic Vice-Chair., he more than held his own!!!
And Bill was awesome - so clear, so forthright!!!  WONDERFUL JOB!!!

AND THEN THERE WAS SAVING P&Z MAJORITY (THANKS TOP P&Z VOTE-GETTER DON!) AND LET US NOT FORGET WRESTING BACK ZBA...
Finally, although we didn't regain control of the Board of Selectmen, we gave it a good shot!

WELCOME TO THE NEW FACE ON THE BOARD OF SELECTMEN - DENNIS TRACEY!

END GAME OF THE CAMPAIGN... ELECTION DAY NOVEMBER 8TH!  WE GOT OUT OUR VOTE!

The League of Women Voters of Weston is awesome!  Double-Header debate story below, Police Commission first...then the main event.
LWV had the inside track on the long-range weather forecast...chose Oct. 22nd last summer!  Some debate pix below.

Just an editorial remark - Bill and Jess did a marvelous job and deserve to be returned to office on the Police Commission!

What Weston wants in a Police Commissioner...serious and resolute.

Officers interested in the debate, too!

Bill was so impressive with his deep knowledge of the needs of the town and the department - he has my vote!

THE MAIN EVENT
BOARD OF SELECTMEN SECOND ON THE LWV DEBATE PROGRAM...
Clearly demonstrated the sincerity of our candidates and the depth of thought the top our ticket always displays!!!

Dan was a gentlemen, stood by his positions and didn't get rattled by threats or anything!

Dennis is so cool under fire!  So informed about...everything!  And firm in his commitment to fairness in government.  This is a key
point that our candidates display all the time - good manners and sincerity.  Call it "civility."

LUCK OF THE DRAW!  DENNIS GOES FIRST ON OPENING, LAST ON CLOSING REMARKS...

PICKED #1 AND #2...IN ORDER OF SPEAKING - WE WON THE FIRST PART OF THE CONTEST!
Maybe it was a good sign that the art exhibit was in Republican colors behind the candidates!!!

Dan is more familiar with P&Z matters, but Dennis held his own, making the clear legal answers and honoring the seriousness of the issues!

Our candidates think...then they talk.  This was in answer to regionalization issue...

And looking at the paintings on the side wall, the models look like some in the audience!

FROM "THE DAILY WESTON" LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

LWV BOARD OF FINANCE DEBATE SATURDAY OCT. 15 SHOWS HOW STRONG OUR CANDIDATES ARE!!!
Republican candidates don't need to bring notes with them or attempt to disrupt flow of debate with passing out material...fortunately, the LWV moderator asked them to stop because the disruption and noise would take away from the audience concentration on the debate itself.

Experience counts
Democrats running for the Board of Finance have two years of experience in Weston between them, if we heard it correctly...

Our new candidate has a great deal to contribute and actually has already made a difference in keeping school budgets down...
Republicans spoke well of Democratic Chairman of Board, not running this year, and pointed out that they have twelve times as much Weston experience as their opponents (see above)!

Outstanding display by mature Republican team!
This was an excellent debate, and the audience was really soaking it in - because Weston is facing financial difficulties ahead, which is why we need...David and his new ideas for saving money!!!

Saturday night Oct. 8:
Dan does a great job, hits hard on some issues where there is disagreement, points out where he agrees - in Channel 12 debate!
